iCan Communicate Seminar

Registration has opened for the iCan Communicate Seminar (click the link to register), a San Diego Autism Society event, which will be held in San Diego, CA on Saturday, January 29, 2011. The all-day seminar is $50, and the speakers are Susan Berkowitz and Eric Sailers (yours truly).

Susan and I will address how to implement iPod touch and iPad for children with autism. Attendees will learn up-to-date information regarding the devices and iTunes. Special attention will be paid to Apple’s licensing policies for schools and consumers. iPod touch and iPad apps will be discussed and demonstrated for AAC (including Proloquo2Go), literacy, social skills, and organization. Attendees will learn how to use literacy to increase language skills, what language skills are needed to develop literacy, how to choose books for their children, how to integrate aac and literacy skills, and what to look for in apps for literacy and language. The apps will appeal to children of all ability and age levels.

If you’re interested in attending, I highly recommend that you register soon – the last iPod touch and iPad seminar sold out fast! Plus, the deadline is January 8, 2011!

  1. This sounds like a great seminar, but unfortunately I will not be able to attend since I live in Chicago. Will you have any handouts, powerpoint, etc. provided on-line? Thanks so much for the information.

  2. Susan,

It’s too bad you won’t be in town to attend. In regard to providing electronic handouts, I’ll have to check with the sponsored organization.

  3. Eric! I AM going to the seminar but I am waiting for the D.O. to tell me how they will pay. YOU MUST save a seat for me! Jeanine in Escondido

  4. This sounds so good but I am not in your area. Any chance you’ll take your show on the road to the San Jose area in Northern CA?

    Thanks!
